How This Got Started

In college I learned about the online indie lit community. Suddenly my eyes were open to all sorts of possibilities. It was exciting to see young writers throwing the rules out the window and publishing exactly what they wanted. The idea of self publishing was no longer seen as being a failure. With the internet you could create the presence of a publisher or lit magazine that seemed authentic and professional looking. After writing a novel in college I was sure that I would be able to do the same. Then I graduated and my focus suddenly became affording student loan payments, finding a job, getting health insurance. No nearly a decade later, with the help from a grant from the Prepared Mind, I'm able to continue on that journey.
